In 1966, Kenya achieved the improbable. The economy grew by 15%. A feat that has yet to be replicated, despite the earnest attempts of successive Administrations and the less than earnest machinations of international financial institutions. This begs the question; what happened in 1966, and why hasn’t it happened again? Was 1966 an aberration in Kenya’s economic history? Or can the improbable become possible once more?
